PMJ fave and American Idol Alum Casey Abrams returns this week to put a gritty blues spin on Charlie Puth’s spurned-lover lament. With his trademark upright bass, red sneakers, man bun and beard, Casey doesn’t have to try very hard to grab your attention – and his gut-wrenching delivery here won’t let it go! You’ll never get over this one:
If there was ever any doubt that American Idol alum Casey Abrams has a unique ability to make a song his own, it would be put to rest immediately as Casey starts this one out alone, setting the mood with just his voice and bass. You’ll hear the influences of Ray Charles and Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, two iconic blues belters whose songs he knocked out of the park on Idol. Once drummer Martin Diller and PMJ head honcho Scott Bradlee step in, though, the band really digs deep into “Attention,” finding the barrelhouse soul at the heart of Charlie Puth’s pop blockbuster. Be sure to also stay tuned for Casey’s new single, coming out on November 10!
