A Burt Bacharach – Style Remake of New Order’s “Bizarre Love Triangle,” Starring Sarah Marie Young

A few months back, we asked our Facebook fans to recommend their favorite singers in cities throughout the world, and received a tip about acclaimed Chicago vocalist Sarah Marie Young.  Here she is making her PMJ debut in a “rainy day jazz” style remake of New Order’s 1986 hit, “Bizarre Love Triangle.”  Watch:

Sarah’s effortless vocals and expressive phrasing soar over this arrangement- which takes stylistic cues from Burt Bacharach classics such as “Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head.”  It’s no surprise that Sarah was selected by Quincy Jones as the winner of the Montreux Voice Competition in 2011, launching her career as a singer and songwriter.  You can get her most recent album, Recess, on iTunes here.
