I first learned about American Idol Alum Jax when my Twitter friend @DanielleFL suggested her for a PMJ cover. I spent the rest of the day watching Jax stun audiences with her powerful rock voice and originality in season 14 of “American Idol.” Working with her allowed me to see what an incredibly rare talent she is – she is full of creative ideas, hardworking, and hilariously down to earth.  She’s already overcome many challenges in her own life, and there’s no question that she’s going to go on to have tremendous success as an artist.

“Teenage Dirtbag” may seem like an odd choice for a PMJ cover, but the combination of its lyrical storyline and the Janis Joplin classic rock sound makes for a particularly interesting juxtaposition.  Jax is clearly no stranger to Joplin’s music, either; she performed “Piece Of My Heart” with Steven Tyler on the Idol finale.  Her singing connects seamlessly to the lyrics here; vulnerable at some points, and defiantly soaring at others.
