“Jar Of Hearts,” Feat. 2016 PMJ search Winner Devi-Ananda!

A dreamy harp glissando ushers in the return of Berlin-based singer Devi-Ananda, bringing a soulful yearning to PMJ’s 60s-era spin on Christina Perri’s “Jar of Hearts.” Last year’s winner of the 2016 PMJ search contest is back just in time for the launch of the 2017 edition. The soured romance of Christina Perri’s “Jar of Hearts” turns sweet in PMJ’s new version, which evokes the classic Brill Building sound of songwriters like Carole King and Gerry Goffin and classic bands like The Shirelles and The Drifters.

It’s the perfect setting for Perri’s vivid ode to a heartbreaker coming back for more. And Devi-Ananda, who’s now wowing audiences as Red Riding Hood in the musical “Grimm” the way she wowed us to beat more than 300 other #PMJsearch singers, perfectly captures the song’s melodramatic melancholy!
