Konnichiwa! A Vintage 1920s Cover of Babymetal ’s “Gimme Chocolate” featuring Tara Louise

How do you mash up a mash-up? Leave it to Scott Bradlee and PMJ to show the way. This week’s video takes the already offbeat combo of J-Pop and heavy metal that made Babymetal into a surprise smash and runs it through their own eccentric retro-izing filter. Arigato for checking it out!

Los Angeles singer-songwriter Tara Louise first stepped out on stage at the age of 6, and by the time she was 15 she’d written more songs than The Beatles! She writes and records vocals for the EDM scene in addition to turning *NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye” into “Pulp Fiction” surf rock in her PMJ debut. Now she shows off another of her seemingly endless talents by singing the unlikely hit “Gimme Chocolate” in Japanese, with Scott’s flapper-era swing behind her in place of the pounding drums and blasting guitars of the thrash-meets- kawaii original.
