“Poker Face” – ’40s Big Band Style Lady Gaga Cover starring Kelley Jakle in her PMJ Debut

Since Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett will be teaming up in this year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show, we made our own Gaga / Jazz mashup by turning “Poker Face” into a 1940s Big Band tune, sung by Kelley Jakle from Pitch Perfect 2 in her PMJ debut.  Watch:

The clever lyrics of “Poker Face” seem to take inspiration from Great American Songbook writers like Cole Porter, so imagining it in a jazz nightclub setting isn’t a farfetched notion.  Kelley’s sultry low register brings to mind cabaret stars of the past, and her strong high notes and incredible breath control take this performance to the next level – truly an impressive debut by a rising star.  Kelley is currently filming Pitch Perfect 3, so you’ll also be able to see her in theaters near you later this year!
