One of the most gorgeous voices of the last few decades was silenced in January when The Cranberries’ Dolores O’Riordan passed away suddenly. Postmodern Jukebox pays tribute this week with a moving rendition of the Irish band’s classic “Zombie” featuring the gospel-tinged vocals of powerhouse singer Maiya Sykes.
It’s long been a favorite song and one that never fails to swell the emotions, so PMJ could think of no greater tribute than to simply offer their own heartfelt version, remembering the life and music of an artist lost too soon.

This video is also notable in that the arrangement was created by Maiya herself – PMJ founder Scott Bradlee heard her perform it and was so moved by it that he offered to turn it into a full Postmodern Jukebox video. Both as a singer and an arranger, Maiya is truly a singular talent.
