A Vintage Jazz Remake of “Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked,” Feat. American Idol Star Joey Cook

American Idol Star Joey Cook happened to be the first person to say “Postmodern Jukebox” on prime time television – and she’s back in our remake of Cage The Elephant’s “Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked,” which also stars clarinetist Jacob Scesney doing a bit of decorating.  Watch:

Since the original version of “Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked” tells a story in each verse in a similar manner to classic jazz tunes like “Mack The Knife,” it wasn’t hard to flip this into jazz.  Joey’s vocals are brilliant and straight out of the 1930s here, making the transformation to small band swing complete.  Of course, PMJ resident clarinet stuntman Jacob Scesney had a bit of fun in the new place, too.
